Volunteering with the Marblehead Public Schools

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Marblehead Public Schools. Please review the information found on this page prior to volunteering. 

PLEASE NOTE: BACKGROUND CHECK CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO VOLUNTEERING    

In January 2013, the Governor signed Chapter 459 of the Acts of 2012, "An Act Relative to Background Checks." This new law expands what public, private, and parochial schools, including approved private special education schools and child care facilities already do in conducting state Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) checks.

ALL employees and contracted workers along with ALL volunteers will be processed for a CORI at least once every three (3) years as currently required by law.

Please use this electronic form to request to have your Criminal Offenders Records Information (CORI) processed. 

CORIs are processed weekly. Please allow up to 7 business days from the time of submission.  

-A current valid photo ID containing your full legal name, date of birth and issue and expiration date is required with your submission. 

-Once clearance is confirmed, applicants and the building secretaries will be notified via the email address on file. Please keep the clearance email for reference when reapplying.   

 The Law also Requires a Fingerprint-Based State and National Criminal Record Check For All:

• new hires
• existing school employees (including facilities and cafeteria workers)
• bus drivers
• contracted employees
• fellows, interns and student teachers
• and volunteers who will have direct and unmonitored contact with children 

ALL volunteers who will have direct and unmonitored contact with children must be fingerprinted. (chaperones and volunteers who regularly volunteer in our buildings).

There is a $35 fee for unlicensed educators.
